Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo is home to 21,000 animals, in 125 acres of award-winning zoological gardens. Attracting 1.9 million visitors every year and undertaking many conservation projects at home and abroad, there’s something for everyone.

Storyhouse Chester

Storyhouse is Chester’s brand new £37m theatre, library, restaurant and cinema. The restored and revitalised 1930s Odeon building houses an 800-seat auditorium, a 150-seat studio theatre, a restaurant and two bars plus a 100-seat boutique, independent cinema. Alongside the building, Storyhouse run a series of festivals as well as Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre and Moonlight Flicks.

During the Autumn and Spring, Storyhouse welcomes the best of the UK’s and international touring work, offering a programme of dance, opera, drama, comedy and music on the theatre’s 800-seat proscenium stage. In the Summer and at Christmas-time, the theatre transforms into a 500 seat thrust stage, to present Storyhouse’s home produced shows. During summer 2017, Storyhouse brought The Beggar’s Opera, Alice in Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Julius Caesar to the stage.

Roman Tour – Children Go Free

Join a Roman soldier and journey through the remains of the largest Roman fortress in Britain and its amphitheatre.  Visit high street shops to discover what is hidden away in their basements.

Armed with the latest archaeological evidence, your Roman guide will provide a 90-minute tour of Chester, which is factual and fun, giving a unique insight into life in Roman Britain.

Whether you join one of the regular tours, or one of the additional tours, on Sunday 24 June and after school from 25 to 29 June, take advantage of the offer that one child may go free with each paying adult throughout the Chester Heritage Festival.
